Hello CELA!
I am excited and
honored to be serving as President for the first time of your professional code
enforcement organization. I would like
to take a moment to introduce myself for those of you who may not know
me. I hold a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and have been in
public service for almost 18 years. Currently, I am the Neighborhood
Preservation/Code Compliance Supervisor with the Town of Queen Creek, under the
Development Services Department. Prior to coming to Queen Creek, I worked
in Code Enforcement for various municipalities in the State of Arizona.
I would also like to
take this opportunity to introduce the other members of the board that will be
leading your Code Enforcement organization this year. Your First
Vice-President is Lupe Romero with the Town of Youngtown, who will automatically
become President next year. Second Vice-President is Gail Bosgieter with
the City of Goodyear, Third Vice-President is Gregory Arrington with the Town
of Youngtown, and your Secretary is Frank Alvino with the Town of Gilbert.
Serving her second term of Treasurer is Martha Ortiz with the City of Avondale,
and last but not least, is Past President, Stephen Erno with the City of Chandler.
I am proud to be working alongside these extremely talented and dedicated professionals!
The Board of Directors
are so passionate about making sure that members of CELA are current on
training. Although we are only one month into 2018, we are already working hard
to bring you excellent and informative training opportunities. Our spring
conference, in conjunction with the Arizona Building Officials (AZBO), is
scheduled for April 30th through May 4th at the Prescott Resort in
Prescott, AZ and we are already planning for the fall CELA/AZBO conference!
A one-day CELA conference is in the planning stages, to be held in the summer. Last
year, we launched the new CELA website and hope that it is working to your
satisfaction. We continue to make
improvements on the website and are looking into making it “mobile-friendly”. There will be a three week, six course CELA
Academy Level I, starting on February 20th and a Level II this summer.
We are also working on a Level III
curriculum. Please contact Gail Bosgieter, if you would like to volunteer in working
with the Education Committee on the Level III curriculum.
One of the main things
to remember is that the members of the Board of Directors volunteer their time
to be actively involved in CELA, on top of carrying out their normal work
duties. It is the reason we invite our members to participate as volunteers in
any of the committees. If you have any comments or questions, please
contact one of the members of the Board of Directors.
The Board of Directors
appreciate your continued support of the organization and look forward to
seeing you at the upcoming training opportunities and the monthly membership
meetings, which are updated on the CELA’s website.
