Welcome!
Dear CELA Members,
I hope that everyone is having a great beginning of the year! As we embark upon a new year, I have great expectations that CELA, as an organization, can increase outreach and training efforts to all individuals in our profession. Serving as President of the CELA members this year is an honor. I am excited to have this opportunity to have CELA continue its momentum in the incredible services that we provide to our members.
The CELA Board has started the year diligently working to get classes lined up for this year’s conferences, which will take place in April and September. Every year, there is an expectation that the conferences will get better, and it’s not different this year, so expect to hear more soon from CELA regarding the upcoming conferences.
As we start preparing for our yearly activities, we have to remember that there are unsung heroes that make the conference possible and affordable for attendees. That being said, sponsorships play a key role in CELA’s ability to have such a great conference experience for attendees; if any of our members know of any organization or business that would be interested in participating at our conference, please have them reach out to us at the general email address.
We have an excellent board of directors who are very dedicated to the code enforcement profession and ready to do their best for the members. During this past year, we received a lot of positive feedback about our online training, which is an excellent way for code enforcement officers to attend classes at a significantly reduced rate, which otherwise would not be possible to participate in the conference in person. We will have the first online training on January 23, 2025, for $10 for members and $20 for nonmembers and it includes 4 hours of CEUs for ICC certification renewal. A reminder that the CELA Level I academy is being held next month in Avondale. Please go to CELA’s website to look at upcoming events, where you can also get the dates and more information on the upcoming trainings.
Talk to you soon!
Stay Safe,
Victor Martinez
